Tokyo Gendai is Japan’s international art fair, connecting Japan with the global art world.
From emerging voices to globally-renowned masters, leading galleries from around the world present the best of contemporary art. In addition to a place to discover and purchase art, Tokyo Gendai is a platform for cross-cultural exchange, sparking connections between Japan’s art scene and the global art community.
The fourth edition will be held at PACIFICO Yokohama from 11 – 13 September 2026 (VIP Preview and Vernissage on 10 September).
In 2026, Tokyo Gendai takes place from 11 to 13 September at Pacifico Yokohama, with the Vernissage on 10 September. Alongside the general ticket, a range of options is available: the “Friday Evening Ticket” — Tokyo Gendai’s first-ever evening opening, on the night of 10 September, offering great-value entry — the “Vernissage Ticket,” packed with benefits including access to the Vernissage, and various discount tickets besides.
Globally acclaimed galleries will once again come together, presenting across five key sectors. The sectors include the flagship “Galleries,” “Hana ‘Flower,'” and “Eda ‘Branch,'” alongside the newly introduced “Miki ‘Trunk,'” dedicated to works on paper including photography, drawing and prints. Additionally, “Tane ‘Seed,'” dedicated to presentations with a focus on digital media, returns for 2026.
This year’s popular “Art Talks” series once again brings together leading figures from across the art world to discuss the currents and trends shaping today’s art scene. The 2026 programme features 9 panel sessions in which speakers share their insights and expertise, offering fair visitors an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the most pressing topics in the art industry today.
