Performed under the strict constraint of cradling a raw egg—a profound symbol of life—within the contours of the body while moving without dropping it, “The Egg” is a performance piece that investigates the fragile relationship between the self and the other through the mediation of an “egg.” It functions as a collective exploration into a bodily state capable of protecting and sustaining what is precious. Driven by this collaborative spirit, Soh Souen has realized various performance projects with diverse practitioners, including dancer María Karen Vilchis (for the piece ‘tie’ in Japan) and artist Sara Milio (for ‘The Egg’ at the Fukuoka Art Museum).
